Creating Well-Being

The term ‘homeostasis’ refers to a balanced state in the body and mind. Our health depends on all the thousands of parts of our body and mind working in synchronisation together. Too much strain in a particular area can knock our whole system out of balance. At times we can feel out of balance, ungrounded, or just out of sorts, but reflexology can help bring back homeostasis.

Reflexology is a complementary therapy based on the belief that there are reflex areas in the feet, hand, face and ears which are believed to correspond to all organs and parts of the body. Reflexology works on an individual basis and may alleviate and improve symptoms such as everyday stress and tension.

During a typical reflexology session the reflexologist will take a detailed medical history. Sessions are usually performed in a comfortable chair or couch. If it is to be performed on the feet, the client will be asked to remove footwear and socks but other forms of reflexology require no removal of clothing. The practitioner will make a visual and tactile examination of the area to be worked before beginning the precise reflexology movements. The particular types of movements involved require the application of an appropriate pressure using the thumb and fingers.

Reflexology is a wonderfully relaxing experience where you can take time out from everyday pressures. The therapists expert touch will help you relax which can help improve mood, aid sleep and relieve tension. The result is an overall sense of wellbeing.

Bodyworks Treatments

Foot Reflexology

Reflexology works on the premise that the feet are a mirror image of the body. Gentle pressure is applied to the feet by thumbs and fingers on reflex areas. Reflexology is a holistic therapy which means that the whole body is treated not just the symptoms. The reflexologist observes the colour, texture and temperature of the feet and may pick up physical sensations in the foot that helps guide the treatment. Reflexology can be used as a one off relaxing treatment or as part of a session of treatments for longer lasting health promotion and general well-being maintenance.

Facial Reflexology

Facial Reflexology is based on traditional foot reflexology with Native American techniques . The face's close proximity to the brain and cranial nerves are stimulated giving unique therapeutic benefits. It aims to help your entire body function at its optimal level, and also gives a positive side effect to give a more radiant, firmer and glowing complexion!

Each pressure point corresponds to a different part of the body, which help stimulate the body's healing mechanisms and improve circulation and nerve conduction, releasing toxins from the body via the lymphatic system. Balancing the whole body.

I have trained to advance level with Ziggie Bergman in London with "The Bergman Method" of facial reflexology, Ziggie has over 20 years' experience and is top Facial Reflexologist to the stars!

Zone Face Lift

This amazing treatment boosts circulation, collagen production, lifts and tones sagging skin, softens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and gives the skin a beautiful glow.

Zone face lift is recommended to be a 12 week programme of weekly sessions for maximum results. However there are different options depending on your needs and desired outcomes.

Each Zone face lift treatment includes a full facial reflexology session and stimulating massage techniques while using the award winning zone face lift elixir. Jade sculpting and lifting tool, quartz crystals, facial roller and facial cupping techniques are included depending on client needs and intuition of therapist.

Smudging, a holistic facial and visualisations are included as part of the 6 & 12 week programmes.

Facial Cupping

Facial cupping is incredibly relaxing and at the same time tones the muscles and increases blood flow. This process stimulates the production of collagen and elastin which plump and tighten the muscle structure of the face. The lymphatic drainage element removes puffiness and helps clear the skin. It can also lessen pigmentation, producing a more even skin tone after just a few treatments.

Facial cupping can be a standalone treatment, or an additional 15 minutes can be added onto another treatment.

Menopause Reflexology

Menopause Reflexology is a unique and specific programme aimed to support ladies transitioning from perimenopausal symptoms to menopause and beyond. It is unique in that it incorporates the face , hands and feet to harmonise the endocrine system, balance hormones and reduce stress and support the whole body.

The ideal rhythm is weekly treatments for 12 weeks, which is 3 months (or 12 sessions) and this allows you to be taken on a wellness journey, that is both healing and transformational for your mind, body and soul and can also impact the way you look. Everyone wants to look good for their age and this treatment can help you achieve this naturally. Also Reflexology is complementary and not an alternative due to the therapy so it can be used alongside HRT if that's the route you choose.

Hand Reflexology

Our hands also represent an amazing micro-map of our whole body. Massage of specific Reflexology points on our hands can bring deep relaxation, release tension, alleviate stress, open up energy pathways in the body and improve circulation.

Hand Reflexology is just as effective and powerful as Foot Reflexology or Facial Reflexology in supporting and improving your health and wellbeing. If you are someone who doesn't like having your feet touched, Hand Reflexology would be a good way to experience the many benefits of Reflexology.

Hand reflexology can be a standalone treatment or added onto any other treatment to make your experience even more calming and relaxing.

Indian Head Massage

Indian head massage, also known as champissage, is a treatment that focuses on massaging acupressure points along the head, neck and shoulders, often using circular massage strokes and a range of different pressures.

A typical Indian head massage treatment, usually starts with the upper back and shoulders, working into this area especially as it often holds a lot of tension. Flowing motions will move up the neck massaging and stretching to relieve any stress and tension.

Finally, the scalp is then massaged along the acupressure points on the head, followed by the forehead, temple area and eyes. The treatment lasts for 25-30 minutes.

Indian Head Massage can be a standalone treatment or added onto any other treatment to make your experience even more calming and relaxing.

New Treatment!

Stone Medicine Facial/Cranial Gua Sha

I am so excited to be able to offer the exclusive Stone Medicine Facial Gua Sha treatment which was developed by Ziggie Bergman. Ziggie has been working within the field of Facial Gua Sha for many years having first trained in Japan in 1992. It is a bespoke treatment where I work intuitively feeling the skin over the face, neck and shoulders for areas of stress and tension. I then use a range of hot and cold stones (Stone Medicine) to work over these areas, helping to release stress and tension. In turn this helps to relax the muscles and brings about a sense of wellbeing.

After training with Ziggie Bergman, as part of our certification process, we had to complete a case study consisting of 6 treatments - we could choose the frequency of treatments up to 3 in a week.

Below are the before and after photos (before left and after right) following 6 treatments over a 2 week period (click images to enlarge).

You can clearly see a marked improvement in the clients skin elasticity, skin tone and overall complexion.

About Me

I have always had an interest in complementary therapies having had regular reflexology treatments throughout the years. However my career took me in a different direction where I worked in the private and public sectors, working in restaurants and HR. During this time I continued to have reflexology treatments as they always helped support me, especially during hectic periods of my life. Recently I have taken a complete change in career and retrained to become a Reflexologist, having trained with the International Institute of Reflexologists and learnt the original Ingham Method.

I have also taken the opportunity to undertake more advanced learning in reflexology and was personally trained by the internationally renowned Ziggie Bergman, "Facial Reflexologist to the stars", and I'm now able to offer Facial Reflexology and the amazing Zone Face Lift™ treatments to my clients.

The Benefits of Reflexology

Balance

Reflexology is a wonderful way of maintaining your body's healthy balance and general wellbeing, reducing the stresses and tensions that come with busy lifestyles and giving us a space to reflect on the mind as well as the body.

Relaxation

Reflexology can induce a deep state of relaxation, which improves the effectiveness of the treatment. Relaxing helps relieve tension and aids circulation, increasing the flow of nutrients, oxygen and energy to all parts of the body, and helping with the removal of toxins.

Health

While it is not a cure, Reflexology can be particularly helpful in managing many health conditions, especially constant or recurring ones that we might have come to accept over time as being a normal part of life.
